Illinois State Universities Retirement System, Champaign, is searching for an associate executive director.
The successful candidate will succeed Judith Parker, who is retiring in May, William E. Mabe, executive director of the $12 billion system, confirmed in a telephone interview.
The position reports to Mr. Mabe, and will direct, coordinate and measure SURS operational service and IT-related activities, among other duties, according to the job posting on the retirement system’s website.
The job posting is available at http://www.surs.com/shepherd.surs?flk=News&shp=78&aid=143.
Applicants should contact Mary L. Hobson, executive vice president of executive search firm EFL Associates, at [email protected]
Separately, Mr. Mabe said the retirement system board lowered its assumed rate of return to 7.75% from 8.5% at its board meeting Thursday. He said the decision was based on economic forecasts and the fact that the retirement system continues to draw down assets to pay benefits.
The change was recommended by the system’s actuary, Gabriel Roeder Smith & Co., and its general consultant Hewitt EnnisKnupp.
