George Diehr was re-elected to the board of administration of the $218.5 billion California Public Employees’ Retirement System, Sacramento, as the state elected member, according to a news release from the fund.
Mr. Diehr received 77.5% of the votes cast; Inderjit Kallirai, who was second, received 22.4% of the 28,373 votes cast by eligible state and California State University employees.
Mr. Diehr is a professor of the College of Business Administration at California State University, San Marcos.
He was first elected to the CalPERS’ board in 2002 and was re-elected in 2006. He is vice president of the board and chairman of the investment committee, in addition to other committee positions. Mr. Diehr’s new term runs from Jan. 16, 2011, to Jan. 15, 2015.
Incumbent elected board members Rob Feckner, current president of the CalPERS board and the school representative, and Priya Mathur, public agency representative, both ran unopposed and were declared the unofficial winners, according to CalPERS’ release.
