Russ Koesterich was named global chief investment strategist and leader of BlackRock's new global iShares investment strategy group.
The group will provide clients with information and analysis on markets and asset classes in which iShares invests, Mr. Koesterich said in a telephone interview.
He said a global team of about 12 employees will be assembled over the next year to respond to an increase in client inquiries as to how to best invest in various ETF strategies relative to market conditions.
“They want to know the best way to implement strategies in a variety of areas,” he said.
The new group will work closely with iShares' overall research, product and client teams, as well as the larger BlackRock organization, according to a BlackRock news release.
Mr. Koesterich will continue in his previous position as head of BlackRock's scientific active equity group investment strategy team.
