Thomas Moutes was named interim general manager of the Los Angeles City Employees’ Retirement System, according to a news release from the $9 billion system.
Mr. Moutes, who is assistant general manager, replaces Sally Choi who is resigning on Friday.
Ms. Choi will become administrative director of the $5.5 billion Motion Picture Industry Pension & Health Plans, Studio City, Calif., said David Wescoe, executive administrative director. She begins there Oct. 25.
She replaces Anwar Abbas, who resigned.
Ms. Choi is the second top executive to leave the system this year. Daniel P. Gallagher, chief investment officer, retired in June. He has not been replaced; Wayne Ige, investment officer and head of public markets investments is acting chief investment officer while a search continues for a permanent CIO.
LACERS spokesman Juan Garcia could not be reached by press time seeking information about what measures the system will be taking to find a permanent replacement for Ms. Choi.
