Brett Johnson was named associate director for public investments at the $6.9 billion William and Flora Hewlett Foundation, Menlo Park, Calif.
Mr. Johnson will work closely with other senior investment team members on manager selection and performance monitoring, according to a news release.
“Brett’s strong analytical background will be a great fit with the needs of Hewlett’s investment team,” Laurance Hoagland Jr., chief investment officer and a vice president at the foundation, said in the release.
Jack Fischer, a foundation spokesman, did not return a call seeking information about Mr. Johnson’s predecessor.
Mr. Johnson was the CIO and a mutual fund portfolio manager for real estate and fixed income manager Grubb & Ellis AGA. Damon Elder, a Grubb & Ellis AGA spokesman, did not return a call seeking information about Mr. Johnson’s replacement.
