Toby Cromwell was named vice president and head of institutional defined contribution at Columbia Management, Jeffrey Peters, head of global institutional, said in a telephone interview.
The position is new.
Mr. Cromwell was managing director and global head of consultant relations; he will be replaced by Kathleen Kennedy, who held the same position at Robeco Investment Management. Robeco is considering internal and external candidates to fill the position, said spokeswoman Katherine McMillan.
Mr. Peters said Columbia is expanding its institutional business following the integration of Ameriprise Financial’s RiverSource money management unit with the long-only Columbia money management business Ameriprise acquired in May. Mr. Cromwell will lead the development of the firm’s defined contribution investment only business, he said.
