New Mexico State Investment Council, Santa Fe, hired Crestline to manage $80 million in a hedge fund of funds, said Charles Wollmann, spokesman for the $13.1 billion council.
Assets came from hedge fund of funds Vintage Classics, managed by HFV Asset Management and later by TAG Associates, which was terminated in April because of performance.
David Basner, president of TAG, could not be reached by press time.
Separately, council officials expect to select a hedge fund-of-funds manager to manage $150 million by the end of September; an RFP was issued last month.
At its July board meeting, the council also hired Hudepohl & Associates to search for a deputy state investment officer to replace Adam Levine, who joined Texas Trust earlier this summer. Council officials expect to hire his replacement in 60 days.
And the council selected incumbent Peter Dekom as consultant for its $236 million program in which it makes loans for television and film productions; an RFP was issued earlier this year.
