Janus Capital Group on Friday launched a mutual fund jointly managed by the Janus Capital Management fixed-income team and the firm’s value equity boutique, Perkins Investment Management.
The Perkins Value Plus Income Fund will be the first such collaboration among the firm’s investment arms, spokesman James Aber said in an interview. Janus’ investment subsidiaries are Janus Capital Management, Perkins and quantitative manager INTECH.
Perkins portfolio managers Jeff Kautz and Ted Thome will oversee the 50% of fund assets that will typically be invested in equities, while Janus portfolio managers Gibson Smith and Darrell Watters will oversee the remainder invested in credit-oriented fixed-income securities, including high-yield bonds and preferred securities, according to a news release.
The portfolio managers will be able to adjust the asset mix in response to changing economic and market conditions.
