Tim Wittenbrook was named vice president and national sales manager for J.P. Morgan Retirement Plan Services, confirmed spokeswoman Jacqueline Meere.
Mr. Wittenbrook, who joined the unit at its headquarters in Kansas City, Mo., was hired after a six-month search, Ms. Meere said in an interview.
Citing company policy, Ms. Meere would not say who Mr. Wittenbrook’s predecessor was, saying only that the executive left to pursue other opportunities.
Mr. Wittenbrook was vice president of Fidelity Personal and Workplace Investing, a retirement planning and brokerage unit of Fidelity Investments responsible for 401(k) plan sales. Michael Shamrell, a Fidelity spokesman, said Mr. Wittenbrook left Fidelity last year and his duties were assumed by other Fidelity employees.
