Douglas Wynkoop was named chief investment officer of the University of Florida Investment Corp., Gainesville, according to a UFICO news release.
Mr. Wynkoop succeeds Michael D. Smith, who left the post on March 31 to join Global Endowment Management as managing director in charge of asset allocation and portfolio strategy.
Mr. Wynkoop most recently served as CIO of the $1.9 billion Houston Municipal Employees Pension System.
UFICO manages a total of $1.6 billion for the University of Florida Foundation, the University of Florida Research Foundation, the University of Florida Athletic Association and Shands Teaching Hospital and Clinics at the University of Florida.
Neither University of Florida spokeswoman Janine Sikes nor Houston Municipal spokesman Peter Koops could be reached for comment.
