James Slater will join BNY Mellon Asset Servicing as chief operating officer and managing director of global securities lending on Aug. 9, confirmed Joseph F. Ailinger Jr., a BNY Mellon spokesman. The position is new and is based in Pittsburgh.
Mr. Slater will be responsible for coordinating all of BNY Mellon's securities lending department operations, execution across business sectors, and risk identification and compliance processes, Mr. Ailinger said. This will permit Kathy Rulong, executive director of the global securities lending unit, to whom Mr. Slater will report, to focus more on long-term strategic goals and key client relationships, according to Mr. Ailinger.
Mr. Slater was senior vice president responsible for global securities lending, treasury and cash management operations at CIBC Mellon, a joint venture between CIBC and BNY Mellon. CIBC Mellon appointed Rob Ferguson and Robert Chiuch as co-heads of CIBC Mellon's securities lending function, Mr. Ailinger said. Mr. Ferguson is vice president, product and client service, global securities lending, and Mr. Chiuch is vice president, head of trading, global securities lending; both men will retain their current duties.
