University of Southern California, Los Angeles, hired executive recruiter The Prince Houston Group to assist in its search for a new chief investment officer, said USC spokesman James Grant.
The position is new.
The new CIO would replace Ruth Wernig, who as the university's treasurer had been overseeing the investment team managing USC's $3 billion endowment fund. She became CIO of the California Endowment, a $3.2 billion private health foundation.
Reached by telephone, Marylin Prince, a partner with Prince Houston, declined to comment.
