Lights, camera, action!
Hedge fund managers are being given a unique opportunity to strut their stuff on BarclayHedge TV, a new video service from BarclayHedge Ltd., one of the industry's largest hedge fund databases.
The web-based service will allow hedge fund managers to introduce themselves and talk about their investment approach. BarclayHedge will take care of all the production details — from scripting to filming and editing — and even help managers stay in compliance with marketing regulations. Only accredited investors will be permitted to view manager presentations on BarclayHedge TV.
“Investors are bombarded by hedge fund data. They can find all the data they could want on our database, but data is only one screen for manager selection,” said Sol Waksman, founder and president of BarclayHedge, Fairfield, Iowa. “But hedge fund investing has always involved a certain leap of faith. Investors want to look a manager in the eye. Televised presentations will permit that eye contact, but obviously won't be enough for an investor to make a decision. But it's a step closer,” he said.
Mr. Waksman said interest from hedge fund managers in the new TV service has been strong since it was announced April 12 and he expects filming to start soon.
