The tech world is abuzz over Apple's new iPad, and Nasdaq OMX Group has been quick to jump on the bandwagon with the release of its Portfolio Manager App for the portable computer.
John Jacobs, executive vice president and chief marketing officer for NASDAQ OMX Group, said the company was invited by Apple to submit the app, which is similar to the version released for the iPhone and iPod Touch.
“But (the iPad app) allows you to do much, much more,” Mr. Jacobs said in a telephone interview, noting that the free app had been downloaded about 5,000 times within a few days of the iPad's April 3 release. “Video on the iPad is like watching a hi-def TV.”
The app allows users to build a stock portfolio and keep track of it using real-time stock data for U.S., Nordic and Baltic stocks. Users also can post to their Twitter accounts and access video clips from StockTwits TV and from the NASDAQ Market Intelligence Desk, among other things.
