Jamie Shen, senior vice president, was promoted to practice leader for Callan Associates’ new alternative investment consulting group, confirmed Ronald D. Peyton, Callan’s chairman and CEO.
Ms. Shen’s role was created when Callan merged its three separate alternatives practices into a single group, Mr. Peyton said in an interview. She will retain her previous role as head of the firm’s real assets group.
Callan executives decided to merge its hedge fund, private equity and real assets (real estate, timber, infrastructure and agriculture) practices to have one person responsible for marketing and client service.
“Our clients so view these asset classes together, and it makes sense for us to view them in the same way and to have more cross-fertilization and backup between employees who work in these asset-class practices,” Mr. Peyton said.
Mr. Peyton said the firm is searching for two more consultants who will also have research responsibilities, part of an expansion of Callan’s alternative investment capabilities.
