Uri Landesman joined hedge fund manager Platinum Partners as president and partner, confirmed Jenna Boyle, Platinum's director of marketing.
The position is new. He will start in May.
Mr. Landesman was head of global growth at ING Investment Management Americas. Annette Bronkesh, an ING spokeswoman, said that position will be eliminated.
Ms. Boyle said Mr. Landesman will work with Mark Nordlicht, chairman and chief investment officer, on portfolio asset allocation, manager selection and investment due diligence. He will also work with the marketing and client service teams, focusing on institutional investors.
Platinum manages a combined $500 million in two multistrategy hedge funds. He managed a combined $3.5 billion in U.S. growth equity and infrastructure strategies. His portfolio management duties have been assumed by existing managers, Ms. Bronkesh said.
Mr. Landesman was lead portfolio manager for U.S. large-cap growth equities. Jeff Bianchi, co-manager on the portfolio, was named lead manager and Chris Corapi, CIO of equities at ING, was named co-manager.
For U.S. midcap growth, Mr. Landesman was co-manager; lead manager Mr. Bianchi assumed sole responsibility for the fund.
For global infrastructure, Mr. Landesman was a co-manager; Mr. Corapi, the other co-manager, was named lead manager.
