Philip Rotner was named chief investment officer of Children's Hospital Boston, effective May 1, to oversee the hospital's endowment, capital and retirement plans, confirmed Bess Andrews, the hospital's director of public affairs.
The position is new.
An investment committee of the hospital's board of trustees has managed its investments until now, Ms. Andrews said. She couldn't immediately say how much in assets Mr. Rotner will oversee.
Mr. Rotner was a managing director at MIT Investment Management Co., where he oversaw private equity investments for the Boston-based university's $10 billion endowment fund. An MIT spokeswoman said no decision has been made yet on whether to replace Mr. Rotner.
