Joshua W. Fenton was named senior managing director and director of research and trading at activist hedge fund manager Breeden Capital Management, confirmed Victoria Weld, a company spokeswoman.
Mr. Fenton oversees the firm's U.S. research team and serves on the investment committees of both the U.S. and European hedge funds, which total about $1.5 billion.
He replaced Robert Fields, who left the firm in March. Ms. Weld did not know Mr. Fields' plans, and he could not be reached for comment.
Mr. Fenton was director of global equity research at Clay Finlay. The firm closed last year.
