Jon S. Corzine has been named an operating partner at J.C. Flowers & Co., a private equity firm focused on the financial services sector, according to a news release.
The former governor of New Jersey also joined MF Global Holdings as chairman and CEO, confirmed spokeswoman Marie Gemskie.
At MF Global, Mr. Corzine, the former Goldman Sachs chairman and senior partner who served first as a U.S. senator from New Jersey and later as the state's governor during the past decade, replaces Alison J. Carnwath as chairman and Bernard W. Dan as CEO.
In the news release, MF Global said Ms. Carnwath will retire from the board at the firm's shareholders' meeting in August. In the same release, Mr. Dan cited personal reasons for his decision to leave the company. He will remain with MF Global through May 16 in an interim capacity to ensure a smooth transition, the release said.
Hillary Ripley, J.C. Flowers' director of investor relations, wasn't immediately available to provide further comment.
