George Diehr was reappointed chairman of the CalPERS investment committee and Henry Jones was named chairman of the CalPERS finance committee, according to a news release from the $205.8 billion retirement system. The investment committee was previously chaired by Priya Mathur.
Tony Oliveira, who previously served as chairman of the finance committee, was named vice chairman of the investment committee, and Louis F. Moret was named vice chairman of the finance committee, a position previously held by John Chiang.
Mr. Diehr was first elected to the CalPERS board in 2002 and currently serves as vice president of the board. He has served as a faculty member at the College of Business Administration at California State University, San Marcos, since 1990.
Mr. Oliveira, president of the California State Association of Counties, was reappointed as the local government representative of the CalPERS board by California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger in February 2007.
Mr. Jones was elected to the board by retired members in December 2007. He retired as CFO of the Los Angeles Unified School District in 1998.
Mr. Moret was appointed to a four-year term on the CalPERS board by the state's Assembly speaker, the Senate Rules Committee and the full Assembly in 2008. Mr. Jones represents CalPERS on the International Corporate Governance Network, where he is co-chair of the Auditing Standards Committee. He also is a former board member of the Los Angeles Fire and Police Pension Board.
