David Gavia was named executive director of the Texas Municipal Retirement System, Austin, confirmed Bill Wallace, spokesman for the $15.9 billion system.
Mr. Gavia had been interim executive director since Eric Henry, former executive director and CIO, resigned in August to become CIO of the $45 billion UAW VEBA, Ann Arbor, Mich. Prior to that, Mr. Gavia had been general counsel for the system.
Nancy Goerdel, director of public investments and asset allocation, has served as CIO since Mr. Henry's departure.
The system's board has not taken action on filling the CIO position or the position of general counsel, Mr. Wallace said in an e-mail response to questions.
