Chris Conkey was named chief investment officer, global equities, at MFC Global Investment Management.
The position is new, said spokesman Brian Carmichael.
Mr. Conkey will join Barry Evans, CIO of global fixed income, and Mark Schmeer, CIO of asset allocation, strategy and research. All three will report to Jean-Francois Courville, global president and CEO.
Mr. Conkey was CIO of Evergreen Investments; he left the company in 2007. Evergreen was acquired Wells Fargo in late 2008.
In an interview, Mr. Conkey said he’s been doing work for non-profits and charity organizations, as well as helping direct investments for an endowment. He declined to name the endowment.
