Christopher Thompson was named head of product management at Columbia Management, effective March 15, said Matthew Card, a spokesman for Columbia's current parent company, Bank of America.
Following the completion of Columbia's previously announced sale to Ameriprise Financial sometime during the second quarter, Mr. Thompson will lead product management and marketing for the combined asset management organization, said Ameriprise spokesman Ryan Lund. The position is new, he said.
Mr. Thompson was managing director and head of investment product management at Putnam Investments. Putnam spokesman Jon Goldstein said his firm is looking at both internal and external candidates to fill the position, and should announce a selection soon.
