Michael D. Smith, chief investment officer of the University of Florida Investment Corp., Gainesville, will leave his post on March 31, confirmed university spokesman Christopher Brazda.
Mr. Smith will join Global Endowment Management on April 1 as managing director in charge of asset allocation and portfolio strategy, confirmed founding partner Stephanie Lynch. It is a new position.
The university corporation, with a combined $1.6 billion in assets, oversees the University of Florida Foundation, Gainesville, along with the university's operating funds, research foundation, athletic association, and Shands Teaching Hospital and Clinics.
The university will be conducting a national search for a replacement.
