Ben S. Bernanke was confirmed by the Senate this afternoon for a second term as chairman of the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System.
The vote was 70-30.
President Barack Obama nominated Mr. Bernanke to a second four-year term as chairman. His current term as chairman expires Jan. 31. He was appointed in 2006 to a 14-year term to the board, expiring in 2020.
