Eric Colson was named CEO of Artisan Partners.
He assumes that title from Andrew A. Ziegler, managing partner, who has taken on the new title of executive chairman.
Mr. Colson, who was chief operating officer for investment operations, will take on the day-to-day management of the firm, while Mr. Ziegler focuses more on Artisan’s strategic direction, said spokesman Mike Roos. Mr. Colson will retain the COO responsibilities but not the title; no one will be named to fill the COO position.
Separately, Barry Dargan joined Artisan as a managing director and co-portfolio manager of a new global equity strategy the firm is looking to launch by the end of March with Mark Yockey, managing director and leader of Artisan’s non-U.S. growth equity team, Mr. Roos said. Mr. Dargan will initially work with Mr. Yockey’s team in San Francisco before moving to London later this year with Artisan’s planned opening of an office there.
Previously, Mr. Dargan was a portfolio manager in MFS Investment Management’s London office, where he helped oversee international and global growth equity portfolios. David A. Antonelli, MFS executive vice president, chief investment officer for non-U.S. and global equity investments, and co-director of global equity research, assumed Mr. Dargan’s responsibilities, MFS spokesman John Reilly said.
Artisan had client assets of $46.7 billion as of Dec. 31.
