Cambridge Associates selected F&C Asset Management to run a commingled environmental, social and governance-focused emerging markets equity strategy, which Cambridge has been working to facilitate in conjunction with four institutional investors.
The strategy, expected to be launched in early 2010, will employ both positive and negative ESG screens, Kevin Stephenson, director of Cambridge's mission-related investment group, wrote in an e-mail response to questions. The Fetzer Institute and Meyer Memorial Trust were among the institutional investors who worked with Cambridge on the strategy. The other two investors declined to be named.
The four initial investors will commit a total of roughly $80 million to the strategy, Mr. Stephenson said. F&C was chosen over six other firms that responded to a request for proposals.
An F&C spokesman couldn't immediately be reached for comment.
