North Carolina Retirement Systems, Raleigh, hired executive search firm Korn/Ferry International to help the $65 billion system find a new chief investment officer, spokeswoman Heather Franco said.
Michael Kennedy, managing director of Korn/Ferry, will conduct the search, which is expected to take three or four months.
The new CIO will succeed Patricia Gerrick, who was terminated in August, according to public documents. Ms. Franco would not comment on Ms. Gerrick's departure, citing state personnel policy.
Michael Williamson, systems director, is handling the CIO responsibilities until the search is completed.
