Rafael A. Villagran was named CIO of Rigel Capital.
In a telephone interview, Mr. Villagran said he is replacing Rigel founder George B. Kauffman, who retired in January.
Mr. Villagran was founder, CEO and CIO of Genesia Capital Advisors, which has closed. Prior to forming Genesia, he was a member of Rigel’s investment leadership team, responsible for portfolio management, market analysis and securities research.
Rigel managed an estimated $800 million in assets as of June 30.
