Henry T.C. Hu, professor and Allan Shivers Chair in the Law of Banking and Finance at the University of Texas Law School, will work for the SEC on a temporary basis, possibly analyzing market risk and looking for areas of market instability, he confirmed today.
“I am only authorized to disclose what I disclosed at (a) June 22 Senate hearing,” Mr. Hu said, declining to comment further.
In his testimony at the hearing of the Senate Securities, Insurance and Investment Subcommittee, Mr. Hu said: “In the interest of full disclosure, I recently agreed to begin working soon at the Securities and Exchange Commission. I emphasize that I am currently a full-time academic, have been so for more than two decades, and after this forthcoming government service, will return to my normal academic duties.”
SEC spokesman John Heine said officials would not comment.
