A value equity team from J.L. Kaplan Associates, led by portfolio managers Paul Weisman and Regina Wiedenski, joined small-cap equity manager Ironwood Investment Management.
The team — which also includes investment analysts Joseph Bozoyan, Andrew Hurvitz and Alessandro Vianello — will manage Ironwood’s “new V.I.P. strategies,” according to an Ironwood news release.
J.L. Kaplan had been an affiliate of Evergreen Investments, the money management arm of Wachovia Corp., which was acquired at the end of 2008 by Wells Fargo & Co. Wells Fargo has been melding Evergreen into its own money management operations since the beginning of 2009, and the SEC’s website shows Kaplan is no longer a registered investment adviser.
According to eVestmentAlliance, Ironwood had just less than $300 million in client assets as of June 30. David Eaton, an Ironwood spokesman, wasn’t immediately available to provide further details.
