Gary Wolk was named a portfolio manager for FrontPoint Partners’ technology strategy.
He will join FrontPoint’s long/short equity technology team, according to an internal memo from Stuart Bohart, managing director and co-head of FrontPoint parent Morgan Stanley Investment Management, that was obtained by P&I Daily.
Mr. Wolk replaces Mark Bertagnolli, who was appointed to the position in September and left FrontPoint in June to pursue an opportunity outside of the financial services industry, Erica Platt, a Morgan Stanley spokeswoman, wrote in an e-mail response to questions.
Mr. Wolk was a portfolio manager at hedge fund manager Bellman Walter Capital, where he invested in the global technology sector with a focus on the semiconductor, communications, communications equipment and Internet subsectors. Peter Ashby, CFO of Bellman Walter, did not return a call seeking information on Mr. Wolk’s replacement.
