PIMCO is creating five active ETFs, according to an SEC filing made Tuesday.
Three are short-duration funds: PIMCO Enhanced Short Maturity Strategy Fund, PIMCO Government Limited Maturity Strategy Fund and PIMCO Prime Limited Maturity Strategy Fund.
Two tax-exempt funds also were part of the filing: PIMCO Short Term Municipal Bond Strategy Fund and PIMCO Intermediate Municipal Bond Strategy Fund.
Information about when the funds will be made available could not be learned by press time.
PIMCO's foray into ETFs started a year ago, when it first sought permission from the SEC. It now has one ETF and pians six other passive funds. The company hopes to become a competitor with ETF giants like SSgA and BGI, which is being acquired by BlackRock.
