Richard D. Shafer was appointed interim CIO of the $60.5 billion Ohio Public Employees Retirement System, confirmed spokeswoman Julie Graham-Price.
The appointment Friday comes about six weeks after the resignation of former CIO Jennifer Hom for personal reasons.
Mr. Shafer joined the Columbus-based system in late May as deputy director of investments for external management. He had been the director of investments for the $5.3 billion New Hampshire Retirement System, Concord.
