Between 2 a.m. and 6 a.m. on July 7, many sane people were sleeping but not the head of business development at Russell Investments (Australia) — although his craziness was for a good cause.
Chris Briant joined 14 Russell (Australia) colleagues and friends at the Mega Swim for Multiple Sclerosis, raising money for MS Australia's work in supporting sufferers' families and finding the elusive cure for the disease.
Starting midday July 4 at the Homebush Aquatic Centre in Sydney, the Mega Swim was a 24-hour relay for which every team had to have someone swimming at all times. Mr. Briant and Justine de Mestre, head of Russell (Australia)'s charitable giving committee and member services manager for its master trust, scored the 2 a.m.-6 a.m. shift and contributed 11.8 kilometers to Russell's 73 kilometer total.
Other Russell swimmers included Bec Jameson, Mark Montaldi, Nigel Webb, Michelle O'Donnell, Karen Serem, Michael Zheng, and Jeanette Hovilai.
