A group of former ABN AMRO Asset Management officials launched Aethra Asset Management, offering global TAA and European growth equity strategies initially for institutional investors, according to Ilja de Vlaam, managing partner and head of sales and client coverage.
The founders of the new firm are Daan Potjer, former head of TAA portfolio management at ABN AMRO Asset; Marc Vernooij, former head of fixed income; and Ms. De Vlaam, who was director of institutional sales.
At Aethra, Messrs. Potjer and Vernooij will be managing partners and TAA fund managers.
ABN AMRO Asset was acquired in 2007 by Fortis and became part of Fortis Investments, which itself was taken over by BNP Paribas earlier this year.
Aethra, which is Latin for “clear sky,” will be based in Amsterdam with a branch office in London. The firm plans to begin offering retail strategies later this year.
