Barden Gale was named CEO at real estate money manager J.E. Robert Cos., effective July 15, said spokesman Clyde Robinson.
Mr. Gale replaces founder Joseph E. Robert Jr., chairman and CEO since 1981. Mr. Robert will become executive chairman, a new position.
Day-to-day operations of the company will become Mr. Gale's responsibility, Mr. Robinson said.
Mr. Gale was vice chairman of real estate at Starwood Capital Group. Amy Robinson, Starwood Capital spokeswoman, could not be reached by press time.
