Oklahoma Public Employees Retirement, Oklahoma City, hired executive search firm EFL Associates to assist in its search for a CIO, confirmed Tom Spencer, OPERS executive director.
The CIO, who will report to Mr. Spencer, will oversee the $5.1 billion systems external investment managers and investment policies.
Mr. Spencer said the position has been open since October 2008, when Kirk Stebbins left to become CIO of the $1.3 billion Austin (Texas) City Employees Retirement System.
Oklahoma PERS hired EFL after an internally run search to replace Mr. Stebbins was unsuccessful.
The job posting is on the website for the National Council on Teacher Retirement but not on Oklahoma PERS website. Information on the position is available at http://www.nctr.org/pdf/OKPERS_062309.pdf.
Applications and questions can be directed to Mary Hobson, executive vice president, or Brittney Schroeder, associate, at EFL Associates, at (303) 779-1724 or [email protected]
Mr. Spencer said the system plans to hire the CIO as soon as possible.
