Russell Bjorkman, vice president of the portfolio management group at INTECH and former chairman of the $120 billion Florida State Board of Administrations Investment Advisory Council, died on Sunday. He was 58.
Mr. Bjorkman, who joined INTECH in 2003, also previously chaired the $1.3 billion Miami City Firefighters and Police Officers Retirement Trust.
I have always been struck by the commitment that Russell had to this industry, and fortunately for us, to INTECH, Jennifer Young, INTECH president and co-CEO, wrote in an e-mail response for comment. He was passionate about what we do, knowledgeable in a great many areas and a key contributor to INTECHs business, particularly in the public fund arena.
Co-CEO Robert Garvy added in the e-mail: The sudden and unexpected loss of Russell Bjorkman is a shock and tragedy for his family, friends, clients and associates at INTECH. Russell was a dedicated professional who cared deeply about his relationships. Russell earned the respect he was shown by all who knew him.
