James Brigagliano and Daniel M. Gallagher were named co-acting directors of the SEC's Division of Trading and Markets, replacing Erik R. Sirri, according to a news release.
The division oversees programs related to securities and options exchanges, brokers, dealers, clearing agencies, transfer agents and credit rating agencies. Mr. Sirri left last week to return to academia.
Mr. Brigagliano joined the division in 1998 and most recently worked in the office of the general counsel. Mr. Gallagher became deputy director of the division last year after working on market regulation and enforcement matters as a counselor to former SEC Chairman Christopher Cox and former commissioner Paul S. Atkins.
