Kentucky Teachers Retirement System, Frankfort, issued an RFP for a general investment consultant, confirmed Gary Harbin, executive secretary of the $11.4 billion fund.
The systems current general investment consultants, Becker Burke and Ennis Knupp, can rebid, Mr. Harbin said. The two consultants are assisting the system on an asset-liability modeling study, but a new consultant could be selected before the study is completed, he said.
The system is looking at all asset classes and is considering adjusting its asset allocation because of changes in economic conditions and capital markets, he said. Specifically, the fund has been looking into distressed debt, high-yield bonds and secondary alternatives, Mr. Harbin said.
Searches will not be conducted until the consultant search and asset-liability modeling study are complete, he said.
The system hopes to invite consultant finalists for interviews on April 24 and May 8, with a selection planned for June 15.
