Phyllis Borzi and J. Mark Iwry are said to be the two top candidates to lead the DOL's Employee Benefits Security Administration. A decision on a White House nomination appeared to be imminent at deadline, sources said.
Ms. Borzi is a research professor in the department of health policy at George Washington University; she also headed the review of the EBSA for President Barack Obama's transition team. Mr. Iwry is a non-resident senior fellow at the Brookings Institution. He served as an adviser on retirement issues to the Obama campaign and was benefits tax counsel at the Department of Treasury during President Bill Clinton's administration. Both declined comment.
