Richard Ketchum, was named CEO of the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority, effective March 16, said spokesman Herb Perone.
Mr. Ketchum, 56, is replacing Mary Schapiro, who resigned Jan. 23 to become SEC chairwoman.
Mr. Ketchum, head of NYSE Regulation, already serves as chairman of FINRA, which was created in 2007 from the merger of two securities firm regulators, NASD and NYSE Regulation.
