James G. Lasher was named senior portfolio manager of the real estate housing program at the $171.3 billion California Public Employees Retirement System, Sacramento, said spokesman Clark McKinley.
In the new position, Mr. Lasher will oversee investments in 20 funds sponsored by seven investment managers that are focused on residential land and development, according to a news release on CalPERS website. CalPERS had $6.1 billion in total housing assets as of June 30.
Mr. Lasher was managing principal of Piedmont Property Partners, a real estate investment and advisory firm he founded in 2008. Information about a replacement could not be immediately learned.
