Paul Griffiths was named Aberdeen Asset Managements global head of fixed income, spokesman James Thorneley said.
The appointment will take effect when Aberdeens acquisition of Credit Suisses long-only asset management business is finalized, scheduled at the end of June. He will also be a member of Aberdeens group management board.
Mr. Griffiths will replace Gary Bartlett, who left the company last week. Mr. Bartlett had joined Aberdeen following its acquisition of Deutsche Asset Managements London and U.K. fixed-income divisions in 2005. Anne Richards, CIO at Aberdeen, will assume Mr. Bartletts responsibilities during the interim period until Mr. Griffiths arrives. Mr. Bartlett could not be reached for comment about his departure.
Mr. Griffiths currently is managing director and head of fixed income for asset management at Credit Suisse. Billie Clarricoats, spokeswoman at Credit Suisse, said there are no plans to replace him.
