Edmund Murphy was named managing director and head of defined contribution retirement plan business at Putnam Investments, confirmed spokeswoman Sinead Martin.
He will report to Jeffrey Carney, senior managing director and head of global marketing and products.
Mr. Murphy replaced David Tyrie, managing director, who will now be focusing on DC products and marketing. Mr. Tyrie will report to Mr. Murphy.
Mr. Murphy came from Fidelity Investments, where he was executive vice president of distribution for personal and workplace investing, confirmed Fidelity spokeswoman Jennifer Engle. She declined further comment.
