Taum Sauk Capital Management, a new hedge fund, was launched by Thomas A. Schmitt, former AllianceBernstein energy specialist.
Mr. Schmitt is CEO and managing principal of the new firm, which started trading in a new global energy and natural resources fund a little more than a week ago.
He was senior vice president and portfolio manager at AllianceBernstein; he invested about $13 billion in energy-related securities and advised other AllianceBernstein investment teams on about $50 billion of energy and natural resource investments in their portfolios. He left AllianceBernstein on March 31 to start his own firm.
Mr. Schmitt is being advised by two former colleagues who are limited partners of the firm: Karan Trehan, a former president and CEO of Alliance Capital International, and David H. Williams, a former CEO and chairman of Alliance Capital Management.
