David R. Odenath was named head of the Americas at Legg Mason, said spokeswoman Mary Athridge.
The position, overseeing all aspects of the group’s mutual fund and retail management accounts business as well as asset management subsidiaries such as Legg Mason Capital Management, is similar to the one Mark Fetting had before he replaced Raymond “Chip” Mason as president and CEO of Legg Mason earlier this year, said Ms. Athridge. Mr. Odenath will have additional responsibilities, including corporate marketing and communications.
Mr. Odenath was president of Prudential Financial’s Prudential Annuities business unit and co-head of international retirement at Prudential Financial. Stephen Pelletier, who had served as chairman and CEO of Prudential Financial’s international investments business, will become president of its domestic annuities business as well, according to a Prudential spokesman. Christopher Cooper, previously the head of the international investments business’s wealth management segment, will succeed Mr. Pelletier as chairman and CEO.
