Mark Bertagnolli was named a portfolio manager of hedge fund FrontPoint Partners’ technology strategy, according to an internal memo obtained by P&I Daily.
Mr. Bertagnolli will manage a new long/short equity hedge fund strategy and a concentrated hedge fund portfolio invested in the global technology sector. His portfolios will be supported by a “team of talented analysts based out of California and New York, who bring extensive absolute-return investing experience in the global technology space,” according to the memo from Stuart Bohart, managing director and co-head of FrontPoint parent Morgan Stanley Investment Management, and Gil Caffray, managing director, chairman of FrontPoint and vice chairman of MSIM.
Mr. Bertagnolli was a portfolio manager and communications sector head at hedge fund manager Andor Capital Management, which announced last month that it will be closing in October.
MSIM spokeswoman Erica Platt said no further details were available about the analyst team.
