Anne Sheehan was named director of corporate governance at the $160.3 billion California State Teachers Retirement System, Sacramento.
Shell take over the new position in October and will oversee the systems $3 billion activist investment management portfolio, according to a news release from CalSTRS.
Ms. Sheehans initial focus will include striving for better carbon emissions reporting by portfolio companies and increasing diversity on corporate boards, according to the release.
Anne will up the ante built by our excellent corporate governance team, Christopher J. Ailman, CalSTRS CIO, said in the release. Under Annes leadership, CalSTRS will continue as a strong and effective advocate for the best corporate citizenship practices.
Ms. Sheehan is chief deputy director for policy at the California Department of Finance and also is a member of the CalSTRS board. She is also a member of the board of the $232.1 billion California Public Employees Retirement System, Sacramento, as a representative of the State Personnel Board.
